Historic Stewart Farm | Family Session

A few weeks prior to this family session I had met Paul and Rachel at their workplace in Whiterock while photographing the Living Wellness Center employee headshots. But at this session I also had the opportunity to meet their two adorable children. September begins the "unknown" weather in BC. We can wake up with some stunning sunny, colorful fall days and other days it is simply fog, darkness and lots of rain. We were blessed with some beautiful weather the day of this session, not too hot, but just right.  Here are a few sneak peaks from their session, check it out!

John & Kate Grotenhuis | September 5th 2015

Kate's mum Robynne contacted me about photographing her daughter's wedding on the September long weekend. She said that they wanted something very simple and "don't need getting ready photos, especially nothing with Kate gazing longingly at a dress." I am very similar in that way so completely understood their approach. Kate and John are very laid back and outdoorsy people which was very apparent the day of the wedding. Again, my kind of people! We headed down to a neighboring monastery and trekked through the grassy field for several minutes to get the family and bridal party photos we wanted. The ceremony and reception took place at their family ranch in the Columbia Valley region. Robynne purchased, planned and prepped ALL the food, including SIX different types of tarts for dessert! The ceremony was set up beautifully with hay bails, homegrown flowers (big job, especially with our recent wind storm!) and goats in the background! Family and friends from all over gathered to celebrate Kate and John. Guests even tented in the field overnight after the celebration was over.

Nate & Kirsten | August 30th 2015 | Part 1

Irm, Kirsten's mom contacted me several months ago in regards to photographing her daughters wedding. When I met Nate and Kirsten for the first time I knew their wedding would be something special. They are both calm, goofy and definitely in love. The guys got ready at a friends house in Abbotsford and the girls (and the butler!) got ready at Kirsten's parents house, as well as the bridal suite at their ceremony and reception venue, The Secret Garden. The day prior to the wedding was an eventful one, with one of BC's largest storms since 2008! Millions had no power, winds were gusting and that is a big challenge on your wedding day! Regardless, we were not concerned at all because the day was all about celebrating Nate and Kirsten and being surrounded by all their loved ones and we actually lucked out with some fantastic weather following the storm. It was an intimate wedding with approximately 50 guests (including the bridal party!). Nate and Kirsten's friends are the type of friends everyone needs. They are so supportive of Nate and Kirsten and have equally goofy personalities. The decor was absolutely stunning and so fitting to Nate and Kirstens personalities. Take a look at some sneak peaks from the first part of the day....stay tuned for part 2!
