Althea wanted to get some photos done with her daughter. They are such a lovely duo! Boy were they a lot of fun to photograph also. We had a great mix of cute and fun (aka a lot of funny faces).
Auntie Dodo Cutiepie | Grandchildren Session
Dolores (aka Auntie Dodo Cutiepie) wanted to get a session done with all her grandchildren. How special. They have SUCH a beautiful bond and are a huge part of each others lives. Her Grandchildren were so well behaved and so much fun (clearly.....wait until you see the photos below...). You can tell just how much they absolutely love and adore their grandma and vice versa!
Meagan | Portrait Session
Photographing a wedding can be a lot of work (and a whole lot of fun!) and by the end of summer (busy season) I am usually in need of a serious massage. All weddings I have an assistant/second shooter who works alongside me. There are several reasons I photograph weddings this way.
1. Lugging around my camera gear can be a lot of work during a wedding and often my assistant will graciously look after my gear for me.
2. Different perspectives and angles. I shoot with two cameras on me at weddings but with a second photographer we get even more angles to the day! They can use different lenses which create different perspectives. They can also be situated at a different spot.
3. When photographing the getting ready portion of the day my assistant always goes with the groom/groomsmen and I photograph the bride/bridesmaids.
4. Reassurance that all important moments are captured.
5. Creative minds get to collaborate.
With that being said, I was super lucky to have worked with several second shooters/ assistants this past wedding season. Thank you SO much Meagan, Liz and Jillian for stepping in to be my super awesome side kicks. I finally had the opportunity to photograph one of my assistants a few days ago. Meet Meagan.
Nicole & Kevin | Stylized Shoot | Sept 13th 2015
It truly is a beautiful thing when two people unexpectedly meet. Taryn, wedding planner from The Stand Rental Co had been following me on Facebook and contacted me to see if I wanted to go for coffee sometime. Of course I said yes! Taryn is the sweetest, most down to earth and talented girl ever. We met for coffee a few weeks ago and chatted about setting up a stylized session sometime. So, last minute we decided to put it all together! So many talented wedding vendors and friends came together to help us create our vision. Taryn is so dedicated to her work, she spent many hours putting together a stunning theme, props and inviting us into her home. Within days we had a stunning NINE tier cake and cupcakes provided by Melissa of MJ Cakery. Sarah from Kaye Fleur put together an absolutely beautiful bouquet, boutineer and crown with deep purple-y red colors, which fit perfectly for our theme. I had photographed Tracey's headshots several years back and knew I could count on her for hair and make up. Tracey from Tracey Le Hair & Make Up Artistry is ridiculously talented at what she does and so easy to work with. Some of you may remember Gabrielle from G Ceramic and Co (think delicious recipes which you have been dreaming about ever since following her page...) provided us with her gorgeous ceramic vases and dinnerware to help create our theme. And, last but not least, a stylized shoot is nothing without willing, generous and beautiful models. Kevin and Nicole got married a few weeks prior (with 300+ guests, you know they are loved) and graciously volunteered to be our models. Not only were they willing to invest several hours of their time to us but they offered to help us set up, hung out to chat with us and were so willing to follow my posing instructions ( even if it meant trekking down the back forest, getting their wedding attire dirty and tip toeing across a not so stable and rickety homemade bike ramp). Thank you so much to those involved. 2016 couples, if you are still looking for any wedding vendors I would HIGHLY recommend all of these vendors.
